An exciting new opportunity now exists for a BDM with experience in the renewables sector to take a leading role in the development and growth of this expanding solar energy company.
National Business Development Manager (Solar)
Hertfordshire
Our client supplies solar energy products to both commercial and domestic markets throughout the UK. Due to planned growth and expansion our client is now looking to recruit a National Business Development Manager with experience in the renewable energy sector to help expand sales within the specifyers, architects and housing arenas especially to secure large-scale projects.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks
• To develop and create sales of the Solar product range distributed to commercial end users;
• Understand the technical and commercial requirements of potential clients;
• Prepare and present bids for the supply of solar products to commercial and oversee those produced by the Regional BDM for domestic end-users;
• Direct line management of Regional BDM’s and Field Sales Agents; responsible for appraisals, setting sales targets, undertaking day-to-day and performance management issues;
• Provide market and sales forecasts for business planning purposes;
• Establish relationships with key contacts within the industry to ensure the company’s brand of Solar Panels is at the forefront at all times.
• To attend and represent the company at the REA and other industry meetings;
• To understand and play an active part in MCS Accreditation for the company and its’ staff;
• To play a creative role in the development of products, services and literature offered by the company.
• Generate sales leads through active marketing including identification of potential new business opportunities, and undertaking client visits.
• Assess customer’s applications and budgets; providing accurate quotations and follow-up to close on sales;
• Offering advice on grants and subsidiaries available to potential clients;
• Interrogate and act upon leads supplied by the Directors, BDMs, and Field Sales Agents.
• Create and build relationships with clients based in the Merchant Energy arena, including Housing Associations, Local Authorities, Commercial Property Landlords, retailers, wholesalers.
• Maintain communication with customers until project completion; overseeing this and dealing with queries from installers, suppliers and customers;
• Solar Product Technical Support – the first point of contact for queries from customers and suppliers
• Arrange surveys / installation via 3rd party partners
• Achievement of business, sales and profit targets.
Key Knowledge/Skills Required
• Excellent knowledge of the renewable energy market;
• MCS Accredited a distinct advantage; or working knowledge of this within the Solar Energy field;
• Knowledge of Solar design packages;
• Highly energetic, professional, self-motivated and able to work and think without close supervision and a natural inner drive to succeed;
• Adept at developing rapport and cultivating strong relationships.
• A proven demonstration of strong selling skills, previous Field Sales or direct selling experience.
• People management skills including motivation, performance management, setting and measuring sales targets;
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Able to analyse and interrogate information in a clear and concise manner, under pressure and to deadlines.
• A commercial approach to business and an ability to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of a company and its operational and sales procedures.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office packages.
• This role involves regular travelling to meet clients so a clean, full driving licence is essential.
The successful candidate would report to the company directors with the role offering a great potential for career development within a growing company. Our client is offering a generous package of £45-50K + commission, car allowance, 25 days holidays + bank & public holidays, death in service & private healthcare cover (after completion of probationary period)has been completed. There is also access to a Company Stakeholder Pension Scheme.
